Giulio Ferretti, first cello
At the age of six he began studying cello with Marek Kruszczynski and continued his studies at Conservatorio “A. Casella” in L’Aquila in the class of Annamaria Mastromatteo.
In 2002 he won a scholarship as first cello of the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana and in 2003 he was called to play the role of first cello of the Orchestre Francais des Junes under the direction of Emmanuel Krivine, touring France and Germany.
In 2004 he worked as assistant principal with Les Solistes Européens Luxembourg
with which he performed in Germany, the Slovak Republic and the United States.
In 2006 he graduated in chamber music at Accademia Nazionale of Santa Cecilia under the guidance of Rocco Filippini.
He also attended special courses at the Fiesole Music School in Enrico Bronzi’s class.
He holds high diploma in Chamber Music at Conservatorio “S.Cecilia” with high honors and praise.
As a soloist and chamber musician he performed at Ravello Festival, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Festival dei due Mondi of Spoleto, Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, Settimane Musicali of Stresa, Auditorium Parco della Musica, the Music Academy of Tallin (Estonia), the Accademia Filarmonica of Bologna, the William Walton Foundation, Fondation Esprit de Fès (Morocco), Maison de Radio France Paris, Ponchielli Theater of Cremona, Emilia Romagna Festival, Venice Biennale, Ljubljana Festival. From 2009 to 2012 he devoted himself to the piano quartet with the Warhol Piano Quartet by touring in Italy and abroad, winning First Prize in the XVI ANEMOS 2009 International Competition in Rome and First Prize at the XVI Chamber Music Competition G. Rospigliosi 2010. He has collaborated with the Officina Musicale with which he has given concerts in Italy and Russia. He has participated in courses held by the Trio of Parma at the Music School of Fiesole winning the scholarship of the William Walton Foundation. Subsequently he obtained the Emma Contestabile scholarship and the Diploma of Merit at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena under the guidance of Alexander Lonquich. He specialized following the courses of the Cremona Quartet at the Accademia W. Stauffer in Cremona and the courses held by Paul Katz and Nicholas Kitchen as part of the professional training program of the ProQuartet – CentreEuropéen de Musique de Chambre in Paris. First cello of I Solisti Aquilani with whom he carries out an intense concert activity in Italy and abroad, dedicating himself to the chamber repertoire from the 18th century to contemporary works, in formations ranging from trio to quartet to string orchestra. With I Solisti Aquilani he has collaborated with artists such as Mischa Maisky, Mario Brunello, Giovanni Sollima, Krzysztof Penderecki, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Alessio Allegrini, Richard Galliano, Manuel Barrueco, Alessandro Carbonare (…).
